Rumors are swirling that Roland Mouret has been picked to design Meghan Markle’s wedding gown. Mouret first met Markle in an Istanbul elevator years ago and they’ve been close friends ever since. But the designer is remaining tight lipped about dressing her for the royal wedding. It wouldn’t be surprising for her to choose him as he’s part of her close circle, London based, and many of his designs feature her signature look: they’re classic, feminine, tailored with draped fabrics and textures, feature flowy fabrics and flattering silhouettes. If Mouret doesn’t design the wedding gown, we wouldn’t be surprised if he designs other outfits she wears during the royal wedding festivities. Markle’s favorite wedding gown of all time is Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s Narciso Rodriguez silk slip wedding gown that oozed elegant, 90’s simplicity. We’re expecting something somewhat similar to that gown and our bets are on either Mouret or Alexander McQueen’s creative director Sarah Burton (who designed Kate’s dress). We know one thing’s for sure, Meghan is busy working closely with the designer to co-design a gown that is effortlessly chic and elegant.. with a little bit of an edge. Counting down until May 19!
